Raymond Bergen was in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1959 to 1969. After going through basic training, Mr. Bergen attended Naval Technical School with a chosen field of engineering. After graduating first in his class he became an Engineering Petty Officer and served aboard the H.M.C.S. Stettler. Mr. Bergen then successfully completed the Royal Canadian Navy Preparatory School program, ranking fifth in each year. Next Mr. Bergen obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria, Faculty of Mathematics, while spending his summers on board ship receiving training to become a naval officer. In 1969 Mr. Bergen purchased his release from the Royal Canadian Navy in lieu of serving five years after graduation in order to join IBM Canada Ltd.

Mr. Bergen worked at IBM Canada Limited from 1969 to 1976. He was employed as a marketing representative and project manager for the sale and marketing of data processing equipment primarily to the Federal Government in Ottawa. His accomplishments while at IBM were as follows:

  • IBM Sales School Honour Graduate
  • Five times member of IBM 100% Club (met sales targets each year while he was a marketing representative)
  • Achieved second highest sales results in Canada in his second year as a marketing representative
  • Received IBM Canada’s Marketing Excellence Award in his third year

Mr. Bergen’s career in real estate began in 1976 as a licensed real estate salesman with Macaulay Nicolls Maitland Real Estate Ltd. He specialized in the sale and leasing of commercial, industrial and investment properties in the Greater Vancouver area.

In 1979 Mr. Bergen left Macaulay Nicolls Maitland Real Estate Ltd. and formed Silverbackllp Management Corporation and Bergen Properties Ltd. Both companies are active today. Bergen Properties Ltd. is focused on acquiring investment properties for syndication.

From 1984 to 1988 Mr. Bergen was also a 25% shareholder of Town Group Realty Ltd. and was actively involved in the management of the business. At the time, Town Group Realty Ltd. was a real estate brokerage company that specialized in the sale and leasing of commercial industrial and investment properties.

Raymond P. Bergen, Chairman & CEO

Mr. Bergen is the founder and Chairman of Silverbackllp Management Corporation. Silverbackllp was established in 1979 and Mr. Bergen oversees the entire operations of the company. Mr. Bergen has been active in the real estate business for over thirty years and has experience in real estate sales, acquisitions, leasing, development, property management and construction management. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics from the University of Victoria and an Engineering Diploma from the Royal Canadian Navy Technical School. He is licensed in British Columbia as the Managing Broker for Silverbackllp.

Melissa Rogers, President

Ms. Rogers has been with Silverbackllpsince 1996. She is directly involved in all facets of Silverbackllp’s operations including property management, acquisitions, sales, leasing, development and construction management. Prior to joining Silverbackllp Ms. Rogers was the senior property manager of Centrecorp Management Services, a large national company, and was responsible for the day to day management of its retail and office portfolio. In addition to her property management responsibilities, Ms. Rogers acted as controller for a chain of liquor stores in Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from McMaster University and is licensed in British Columbia to provide trading and rental property management services.

May Sprague, Director, Leasing & Acquisitions

Ms. Sprague has an extensive background in real estate with over twenty years direct experience in the leasing of retail, industrial and office space. She has been with Silverbackllp since 2000. In addition to overseeing the leasing of Silverbackllp’s portfolio, Ms. Sprague is involved in all facets of Silverbackllp’s operations including acquisitions, sales, property management, project management and development. Prior to joining Silverbackllp Ms. Sprague was the Leasing Manager for British Columbia at Oxford Properties Group Inc. She possesses a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia with a specialty in Urban Land Economics and is licensed in British Columbia as an Associate Broker to provide trading and rental property management services.

Herbert Chan, Director of Property Management

Mr. Chan has been with Silverbackllp since 2004. He is involved in all facets of Silverbackllp’s operations including property management, construction project management, acquisitions, sales, leasing and development. Mr. Chan is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of Silverbackllp’s portfolio. Prior to joining Silverbackllp Mr. Chan managed technology projects for numerous governmental and private clients in the United States, with a focus on safety, security, and risk management. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Chan is licensed in British Columbia as an Associate Broker to provide trading and rental property management services.
